Matching memorial inscriptions:
The most important priority is ensuring that the new inscription matches the original inscription. We will ensure that the whole inscription matches for:
- Font: This is relatively straightforward.
- Lettering style: The four types of lettering include: ‘Cut in’, ‘Raised’, ‘Gold leaf’, and 'Paint'.
Note: Both ‘Gold leaf’ and 'Paint' lettering require ongoing maintenance. Therefore it is quite common for the old inscription to be ‘re-lettered’ in order for both headstones to match properly. - Layout: That the layout of both inscriptions is symmetrical and matches as much as possible.
- Letter height: The heights of the letters on the new inscription will match the heights of the letters on the old inscription.
